Since 1970, we have invested in high-quality, post-seed-stage, private companies that create innovative products and services to meet customers' needs in the face of rapid, technology-driven change and market growth.

Direct Investment

We make direct venture investments in companies, viewing ourselves as co-owners of the businesses with the management teams, as well as with other investors. Initial direct investments generally range from $2 million to $5 million, and we work actively to support our portfolio companies, whether or not we sit on their boards of directors. And as we have over the past 35 years, we continue to co-invest and work with other leading venture capital firms in helping each company succeed.

Purchasing Private Shares from Founders and Employees

We find opportunities to invest in private companies' when they are not actively raising capital—by purchasing shares from existing shareholders. With the approval of the board, we purchase shares from existing insiders to offer liquidity and diversification. Initial private share purchases range from $250,000 to $5 million.
